Hello everyone and welcome to my life. 🙂
My name is Opra and I live in Southampton in the England. I just turned 45 and I am currently retired. Yes, you read that right. I am retired.
How can I be retired at age 45? Well, I would have to thank my husband for that. He has always been a great provider and together, we have made a couple of good financial decisions along the way. This allowed us to manage our finances well over the years. Since we are not really lacking financially, we figured that it is probably a great time for me to stop working so I can concentrate on taking care of the family.

So what is my life like? Let me tell you a bit about my history.
I am blissfully married to my college sweetheart, Harry – who is a gorgeous doctor, by the way. We got engaged right after I graduated – which was 24 years ago. I was 21 and he was 24. I got my degree in Hotel Management and Harry just finished his post graduate foundation course. He was about to enter into training and was actually just admitted in a prestigious hospital.
We got married a year after we got engaged. We both had jobs then so everything was going great. A year after we got married, we had our first child, Edward. I had to stop working after giving birth because I wanted to focus on raising our child. Harry and I knew we would have 3 children and they soon came 2 years apart from each other – 2 beautiful angels that we named Sarah and Rebecca.
My life was good.
As the kids grew, Harry and I knew we had to be careful about our financial decisions. As soon as our youngest started going to school, I went back to work. We wanted to be financially secure and we needed a second income to jumpstart all of our financial plans. As Harry spent his income to provide for our needs, what I earned went into investments, retirement, and college funds.
And that is how I was able to retire at the age of 45.
The truth is, I also wanted Harry to retire with me. But he is so happy doing his job that I understand why he couldn’t leave just yet. He just loves the fact that he can help make other people’s lives better. He is really such an angel.

Of course, since it is just me who retired, I do get bored at home. This is why I thought about creating this blog. My kids are all grown up. Edward is already working in London while my two girls are in college – with Sarah graduating this year. They are all getting out of the nest pretty soon it will just be Harry and me at home – with our 2 cats.
So what have I been doing while in retirement? Well, I’ve been cooking. A lot! I have always loved cooking even if I was very busy. But that still didn’t keep me occupied enough.
That was when I decided to create this blog. I have been spending more and more time on the Internet and I read about female bloggers. I must say I am quite fascinated about how they shared their life online. If they can do it, I am pretty sure I can do it as well.
And so here I am, sharing my life with all of you. Most of what you will read here will be ramblings about what I do with my life and what I discover online. I will probably write something about what I cook every now and then. I am pretty sure our cats will also be featured here. We will see how it goes.
Harry is amused by all of this because he is not much of a tech-person – if you get what I mean. If Rebecca didn’t create a Facebook account for him, I doubt if he would have one. I will show him how fun this is.
